Two free family Halloween events are happening in Astoria this weekend: a Fall Harvest festival at Hallets Cove Saturday and a celebration at Astoria Park Sunday.
If you have kids and are looking for something easy to do this weekend, Astoria has two free outdoor events on the calendar. One is Saturday by Hallets Cove, and the other is Sunday at Astoria Park.
The Fall Harvest Costume Festival and Community Health and Wellness Fair is set for Saturday, October 24, from noon to 4 p.m. at Hallets Cove Playground, 30-02 Vernon Boulevard. The Old Astoria Neighborhood Association says it is free and open to the community.
The afternoon will include music, arts and crafts, table games, hayrides, seasonal treats, costume parades, and community resources. I like that it mixes the Halloween fun with a chance to connect with local services. The organizer's event page has the full details.
NYC Parks is hosting its Batty Over Halloween Celebration on Sunday, October 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the Great Lawn at Astoria Park. The free event is for kids and will include a puppet show, candy, and more. Costumes are encouraged. See the NYC Parks event listing before heading over.
Both are easy ways to get outside, let the kids enjoy their costumes, and spend a little time around the neighborhood. Hope to see you out there.
