Things to Do in Astoria This Weekend: Oct. 1–4, 2026

A free museum tour, Latin music, a poetry open mic, Sunday yoga and a vinyl record show are among the local plans around Astoria from October 1–4.

October is starting with a weekend that makes it easy to find something to do close to home. I spotted a free museum tour, an afternoon of Latin music, a poetry open mic, and a record show at Bohemian Hall. Here are a few things happening around Astoria from Thursday through Sunday.

Thursday, October 1

At 5 p.m., the Museum of the Moving Image is holding a free public tour of MoMI LAB. You’ll need to RSVP, and the tour is limited to 15 people. The museum is at 36-01 35th Avenue.

Friday, October 2

MoMI’s Phone-Free Friday starts at 2 p.m. Visitors who check their smartphones at the door get 50% off general admission. Then at 5 p.m., there’s a free workshop about taking more control of everyday technology, followed by a reception. RSVP is required for the workshop.

Saturday, October 3

MoMI’s courtyard will have a different kind of soundtrack from noon to 6 p.m. at Latin Listen. Three DJs will play salsa, reggaeton, Latin funk, cumbia and Afro-Latin sounds.

For poetry, songs and spoken word, Q.E.D. has its first-Saturday Queens Poet open mic at 3:30 p.m. Sign-ups begin at 3, and it’s free to attend with a $5 minimum purchase. Q.E.D. is at 27-16 23rd Avenue.

Sunday, October 4

The Vinyl Revolution record show at Bohemian Hall runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 29-19 24th Avenue, with dozens of dealer tables and thousands of records. Ticket details list early admission from 10 to 11 for $10, then general admission from 11 to 4 for $5.

Meanwhile, The Yoga Room is leading a free one-hour class at MoMI at 11:15 a.m. Bring your own mat and RSVP; the museum opens for check-in at 11, and space is first come, first served.

Check the event pages before heading out for RSVP or ticket details and any last-minute changes. If you know about another neighborhood event, send it my way.
